First off, well done to all of you who came along to our Fairs this week! It was the first time we at Careers had run two in a row and we were hugely impressed by the numbers of students who supported them. We had a record attendance at both and we are thrilled by the exciting conversations we overheard during the days. There are many photos to remember them by that still need to be sorted, but in the meantime take a look at how busy the room was for Management & Finance on Tuesday:
Don’t forget to do some research on the companies who attended and get started on your grad scheme applications if you’re a finalist this year – it’s time to get cracking! If you missed the Fairs, it’s not too late to get started – check out our Final Year Focus page if you’re not sure where to start.
Following this fantastic week, we have yet another Fair coming up next week, the Law Fair in the Ron Cooke Hub on Thursday 24 October from 12-3pm… Don’t forget to come along if you’re interested in going into this sector!!
On another note, we have another first this term with our pilot Life Sciences online Q & A coming up this Monday from 12-3pm on our website. We’ll have experts ready to answer your questions from GSK, Cumbria Wildlife Trust and The Society of Biology amongst others, so don’t miss the opportunity to get answers for your career conundrums!
Lastly, no matter what year you are in, it’s time to be thinking about applying to the Alumni Mentoring Scheme this weekend! The deadline is 5pm this Sunday, so if you would like professional advice from an alumni over five weeks to improve your CV, covering letters or interview technique, send in your application now. This is a fantastic opportunity for current students to develop your career planning with the help of an experienced mentor drawn from the University’s extensive alumni network.
If you’re feeling inspired, have a look at the Career Mentoring page and check out an alumni mentor profile.
Should you send in an application after this Sunday, don’t be dismayed at missing out on the Autumn term round. Your application will be entered for consideration next term instead, as the AMS is run on a rolling basis, meaning that there’s no reason not to get involved over this year!
That’s all for now, have a great weekend looking up exciting job opportunities with this week’s Fairs exhibitors and we’ll look forward to seeing you next week for the Life Sciences Q & A on Monday and the Law Fair on Thursday.
