Global Connect 2013: Thursday 7 November from 5.00pm – 6.30pm in Physics PT/005a/6
This is your chance to find out more about opportunities to go overseas for work experience, volunteering or study. Around 20 opportunity providers will attend including:
- AIESEC
- BUNAC
- Frontier
- Career Journey International
- International Service
- JET
- Lattitude
- Raleigh International and more…Download the event brochure for full details of all the organisations attending.
In order to make the most of the event, make sure you do your research in advance. Check websites for further details of the organisations attending and what they offer. Then come prepared with your questions for representatives at the event.
As some organisations make a charge for the service they provide in organising your trip/experience, the brochure includes tips and resources to help you think of ways to raise money and links to awards you might be able to apply for. We also provide a checklist of what you should check when you apply for an organised trip to make sure you get value for money and get the experience you expect. Careers staff will also be available at the event for you to talk to and get advice.
Safety on your trip is vital, so as well as opportunity providers, you can also talk to the FCO about its Know Before you Go Campaign and Caroline’s Rainbow Foundation who will give you advice on everything you need to know about keeping safe during your travels.
Many of our students have already had fantastic experiences working and volunteering overseas – read about what they have been doing in Columbia, Tanzania, Nepal, South Korea, and Spain and see what advice they have for you based on their own experiences .
Keep up to date with the latest news on our Global Connect Facebook Page.
Note: Students should note that this event is not focusing on large graduate recruiters with formal internship opportunities. For this type of experience please see individual websites of companies you are interested in or search usual vacancy sources for international opportunities.
