Do you have the ambition, determination and vision to accelerate into senior ranks within Greater Manchester Police?

The Fast Track programme (police constable to inspector) is an accelerated three-year promotion and development programme. It will equip talented graduates with the skills, knowledge and experience to advance to the rank of inspector within three years.

Although exciting, intense and varied, being a police officer is not a 9 to 5 job. It involves unpredictable hours, potentially long shifts and working in situations with high risk – you will be expected to tackle danger head on while other members of the public turn away. You will have to justify and account for your actions to make sure you are working ethically, proportionally and to the standards the public expect.

The three-year programme will be a blend of classroom elements, delivered at regional training centres, and operational training and development in your local forces. Candidates will be supported to learn what it takes to become a police officer and to quickly put that into practice.

Applications for the Fast Track programme will open on Monday 7 April and the closing date for GMP applications is 30th April 2014. No applications received after this date will be accepted. Detailed information about the Fast Track scheme is on the College of Policing website and it is essential that you familiarise yourself with the facts about the scheme before submitting an application.

To support candidates in understanding the programme and more about a career in policing, we are holding an open day on the 14 April 14 at our Force HQ in Manchester and we would encourage candidates to book onto this event to help them with the application process.
