Future Foreign Policy are running an exclusive workshop “Cyber Security and You” in partnership with EY at One More London Place, SE1 2AF on Wednesday 8th October 2014  18.00 – 20.00

Following on from their recent workshop looking forward to 2025 with the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office, FUTURE FOREIGN POLICY is continuing its series of events looking at key challenges facing the world in the next 10 years.

With the rising critical importance of Cyber Security Future Foreign Policy are holding a workshop / panel discussion in partnership with EY (this will not be a technical workshop, instead being geared towards cyber security on an individual and international level) that will allow students and recent alumni from UK Universities to get an insight into and involved in key discussions around what Cyber Security means for you at home, at work and internationally – exploring the issues we find most challenging about the area on a personal level and then looking at the threat landscape / bigger themes that have been brought to the forefront of public awareness through Wikileaks, Edward Snowden and the Anonymous hacking attacks.

This workshop will feature the following senior experts within this space who work with and advise governments / large bluechip companies around major Cyber Security challenges and would be an excellent opportunity for your students to be part of conversation around an area of critical importance:

BEN RUSSELL: National Cyber Crime Unit, UK

Ben Russell is a Strategy Manager at the National Crime Agency’s National Cyber Crime Unit. The NCCU leads the UK’s response to cyber crime, including leading investigations into the most serious cyber threats and coordinating the UK’s entire response to cyber crime. Ben leads on the Unit’s investments, recruitment and communication. His previous roles within cyber crime include in international partnerships and digital strategy for the Serious Organised Crime Agency’s Cyber Department, and intelligence roles within CEOP, the UK’s Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre.

SIMON DUKES: CEO of CIFAS – The UK’s Fraud Prevention Service

With a background in the public sector, Simon has held senior roles in a variety of specialisms, in particular defence, security and policing.  He has also had experience of Government communications and public affairs.  Prior to joining CIFAS he was Deputy Director of the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure with responsibility for cyber security.  Simon is also a Trustee of the Museum of East Anglian Life.

KEN ALLAN: Global Information Security Leader, Lead Partner, EMEIA Information Security Centre of Excellence at EY

Ken Allan is the EY Global Information Security Leader. He also leads EY’s Information Security Centre of Excellence across Europe, Middle East, India and Africa. With a focus on technology, security and IT risk with major clients, Ken is a trusted senior advisor to industry leaders regarding information security risk, working with high profile clients and organisations such as HBOS, the BBC, State Street, Aviva, National Australia Group and the Bank of England.

ANNA AQUILINA: Director, EMEIA Information Security Security Centre of Excellence at EY

Anna is an expert in Cyber Security, and is responsible for the build out of the Threat Intelligence capability for EY and working with clients on Security Transformation. Anna previously worked in the national security and law enforcement sphere within the British and Australian governments for 15 years, specialising in cyber security, threat intelligence & operations, policing, organised crime/counter-terrorism, operational effectiveness, strategy and organisational change. Her recent focus has been on cyber-security, technologies, big data and organisational transformation, preparing government agencies for the cyber-challenges facing them.

After a discussion panel, attendees will break out into groups and be asked to think around and discuss a number of key challenges and get involved in a few exercises with feedback and insight into your ideas from industry experts in the field. Again, students from your university have the opportunity to be at the heart of this conversation.
