Institute of Legal Secretaries and PAs launches scholarship scheme

At the beginning of the New Year, ILSPA launched its new scholarship scheme. The scheme will enable one student each year to study the Legal Secretaries Diploma course for free. ILSPA would like to offer financial support to people who may not be able to fund the course themselves, enabling them to have a brighter future.

ILSPA receives enquiries from people who want to better themselves and have a good career by studying the Legal Secretaries Diploma course, but they are unable to afford the course fees. There are loans and funding available for the course through certain organisations, but by introducing the scholarship scheme, ILSPA will be able to give people in financial hardship the opportunity to study the course themselves.

ILSPA’s Legal Secretaries Diploma course is suitable for those who have no previous experience in law as well as those who are familiar with law. It has been designed and written by legal professionals and is widely recognised by law firms, legal departments and legal recruiters. ILSPA’s philosophy is that Legal Secretaries and PAs should understand not only how to perform certain tasks but also the reason for those tasks and the principles of law behind them. The course provides students with an understanding of various different areas of law and the practical tasks involved with Legal Secretary work such as legal document production, completing legal forms and typing professional correspondence.

The application process will commence in January each year, and the lucky student will be chosen in April. To qualify for the scheme, potential students must be in a position of financial difficulty, but it is open to people of all ages and nationalities. On the application form, ILSPA asks potential students about their financial situation, current experience and skills, and what gaining the Legal Secretaries Diploma qualification will mean to them.

ILSPA will be tracking their scholarship students’ progress throughout their studies, taking extra care to motivate and encourage them along the way. Not only will students be presented with ILSPA’s Legal Secretaries Diploma Certificate upon passing the course, but they will receive professional development advice and guidance throughout their studies and beyond.

An application form can be requested by emailing ILSPA at info@institutelegalsecretaries.com or by calling 0207 1009210.
