General Careers news
Politics first year students – Apply for an @Work team project with your departments
Applications for @Work open Monday Week 5 – Sunday Week 7. This department led programme in collaboration with Careers offers first year students from your departments the opportunity to participate in a wide range of team projects with community, business, government and school partners during the summer term. Projects include human rights workshops, general election school debate, reviewing policy reforms in Youth justice and many more. Find out more about the programme.
Workshops to create winning ideas launched!
Careers is running a series of free workshops for undergraduates and post-graduates interested in winning £2000 for ‘the next big idea’.
The workshops on how to come up with business ideas, financial planning for start-ups, and how to research and reach your target market, will be held on Thursdays in weeks 5, 6, 7 from 5.00pm – 7.00pm in P/T/005.
Although designed to help students interested in entering the Plan ENVY business plan competition (first prize or £2000 and category prizes of £500), you do not have to enter the competition in order to attend and benefit from these workshops.

Get a career mentor – Alumni Mentoring Scheme
Applications are now open for the summer term mentoring scheme. Deadline – 5pm on Friday 13 March (Week 10).
All of our mentors are York alumni who can help you to:
- explore career options
- get advice on the application and job-hunting process
- receive support and advice from someone who has successfully entered a graduate level career

Graduates recruited through work experience programmes
