Volunteering opportunities:
York Students in Schools are offering the chance to be involved with some great School Projects.
Working alongside York-based employers (Northern Rail, York Marriott Hotel, York Designer Outlet, Joseph Rowntree Foundation, Aviva and Hiscox), you’ll help inspire children and young people.
Check out the YSIS project briefs and be sure to apply by Weds of Week 3.
Employer Insight Days
If you’re in your First Year and already want to explore graduate companies, have a look at our Insight Programmes resource. This brings together information about some of the employers offering Freshers the chance to visit companies and see how they work.
Go to our events page and click on the Insight Days tab for more details.
Meet employers on campus
Did we mention we’re hosting three careers fairs on campus this Autumn?!
All three fairs are an excellent opportunity to chat with employers recruiting to both graduate roles and internships. No need to book, just call in.
- Technology Fair: 14 Oct, 11am – 3pm in the Physics Exhibition Centre
- Graduate Recruitment & Internships Fair: Thurs 15 Oct, 11am – 3pm in the Physics Exhibition Centre
- Law Fair: Weds 21 Oct, 12 noon – 3pm in the Ron Cooke Hub, Heslington East.
Don’t forget, there are lots of other employers events on campus – giving presentations and delivering skills courses. Check out Friday’s Forthcoming Careers events news post here.
If you can’t wait until then, go to our Term events programme page to see the whole term’s schedule.
UCAS Teacher Training
You can now search for training places on the UCAS website (6 October onwards) and apply for places from 27 October.
Details of teacher training bursaries for those starting training in Autumn 2016 are now available online.
I did an employer insight day in my first year. I got massive benefit from it. Highly advise first years to do it.
