First of all, think about what you are looking for – is it a part time job to fit around your studies, a summer internship, or a graduate role?
Log in to Careers Gateway and look in the Opportunities tab – click on search and apply:
This brings up the list of all vacancies currently advertised with Careers – this might include the perfect job for you, but the complete list can be a bit overwhelming. So you need to narrow down the options.
You can refine your search by choosing from the options in the left hand menu.
So for a summer internship, for example, select the “internship/placement up to 12 weeks” option and this should bring up opportunities that will fit into your summer vacation:
You will see that some of the jobs in this list of results are volunteering, and not all are in the UK. You can refine the selection further by limiting it by location or business area (job sector) to retrieve the specific jobs to suit your requirements. Here I have selected “Publishing, Media and the Performing Arts” and have found 11 internships in this sector.
For a graduate role, you will almost certainly want to try searching by business area; for a part time job to supplement your income it’s better to keep your options open so that you can see everything available in the “part time work while studying” category.
If you don’t find what you’re looking for, check back later as new opportunities are added all the time, and you can also edit your profile to get email alerts. Remember to check company websites too – we advertise as much as we can, but there’s always more out there.
