Applications opening and closing!

York Award for first years – don’t miss the deadline! Deadline Friday 22 April at 5.00pm 

If you’re a first year there is only a few days to complete and submit your online York Award application. Don’t worry – it’s not complicated, it’s open to all first years and we have lots of support available. Check out the York Award web pages and come and talk to us in Careers if you need help. Or drop into one of our York Award clinic this week:

  • Week 2: Wednesday 14:00-18:00 in RCH/018 (Ron Cooke Hub Hes East)
  • Week 2: Thursday 18:00-20:00 in D/114 (Derwent) Last chance to get support and beat the deadline

York Students in Schools applications open Tuesday Week 3: Be on board. Be engaged. Be inspirational.

Commit 8 – 10 half day sessions over autumn term in a primary or secondary school in York. Training sessions are provided by YSIS to prepare you for life in the classroom which could include helping out in a range of subject and activities, including language support, after schools clubs, and classroom assistance.

Get to know your local community by getting involved in a placement in heritage, conservation, education or the public sector. Could you be a mentor, activity helper, guide or befriender? Take a look at what’s on offer and apply by midnight Sunday Week 5.

If you’re interested in a career in the third sector and want to gain first hand experience of the workplace in a charity, we have voluntary internships starting in the summer break and autumn term.
