Bright Network are a student network with a focus on careers. They are partnered with over 300 top graduate employers and provide advice, connections and networking events. This year they partnered with the York Finance Conference for their 2019 event.

The 2019 Conference

York Finance Conference 2019 hosted over 130 delegates from a range of universities across the UK and twenty speakers from various industries and countries. The conference’s success came down to the hard work of a driven committee and our fruitful partnership with Bright Network. 

The theme for the year was ‘Diversity & Inclusiveness’ – in line with Bright Network’s mission and values – with our final panel debate of the day reflecting our emphasis on creating an inclusive environment within the financial industry.  By the end of the conference, the delegates were better equipped to build their future financial careers, having attended interactive educational sessions on finance and exclusive networking opportunities. 

Partnership with Bright Network

The YFC / Bright Network partnership was instigated by our committee after attending a Bright Network networking event in 2018. After this event, our Chairman and President met with a Bright Network employee in London to discuss the possibility of a partnership arrangement. 

Our whole committee then travelled to London a few months later to discuss how Bright Network could support YFC 2019, and Bright Network gave an insight into how to best market events. 

After applying for the Bright Network ‘Society of the Year’ Awards 2019, our committee was delighted to attend the event and to be named as the Society of the Year. Bright Network then helped to promote the conference through emails and social media, and even sent us promotional material for our delegates to engage with on the day.

Bright Network is a great platform that provides every member with useful advice on choosing a career fit for them. It helps students build their confidence when applying for positions and prepares them to succeed during the recruitment process via their tips and specific guides. Bright Network events are an unparalleled opportunity to build a wide professional network which has helped boost our members’ employability.
