We’re back this term with another busy programme of talks and workshops, volunteering opportunities, appointments and the first York Strengths days for first years plus much more. Come and see what’s on offer and how we can help. We’re open 10:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday or visit our website at york.ac.uk/careers
Below are some of our highlights for Spring Term!
Assessment Centre Experience

We’ve teamed up with 2 big graduate employers to put on this event which will help you explore typical assessment centre activities, so you know what to expect during the recruitment process for internships, placements or graduate roles. During the event you’ll have the chance to join two employer-led workshops, and talk to the employers, with drinks and nibbles available at the end of the event. You don’t need to have been invited to an assessment centre to come to this event. This session will give you some idea of what to expect and what employers are looking for. By the end of this event, you will be able to approach your assessment centre or interview with more confidence.
The Assessment Centre Experience takes place on 21 January from 18:00, sign up on Careers Gateway

Discover new career options
Careers In…. is a big event we run each year but each year we take three different career sectors to explore. This term it’s the turn of
- Journalism, publishing and writing
- Social Mission – careers where you can make a difference and have a positive impact on society
- Professional Business Services – e.g. HR, audit, finance & consultancy
Taking the form of a panel Q&A, you’ll hear from York Graduates and professionals. They will share their insights into how to get into their area of employment, what sorts of things employers will be looking for in potential graduates and a brief overview of their own background. This is a great opportunity to find out more about these industries and to chat to our panel and invited guests over drinks and nibbles after the initial session.
